Guidance
Dear PS/MS 146 School Community,
We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to the guidance team at PS/MS 146 which consists of our school social worker and our school counselors and share more about the important role our school’s
Guidance Team plays in the lives of our students.
At PS 146, the guidance team works closely with students, teachers, and families to create a positive, supportive school environment. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and equipped with the tools they need to succeed both in and outside the classroom. One of the primary responsibilities of our guidance team is to provide counseling services to students who may be facing challenges, whether at home or at school. This includes providing individual or group sessions for students who are struggling emotionally or socially, or who need help navigating personal difficulties. We believe that social emotional well-being is integral to student success. To help foster this, we conduct Social Emotional Learning assemblies and activities throughout the school year. These sessions are designed to teach students essential life skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, anti-bullying. Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to handle conflicts, build healthy relationships, and manage stress.
In addition to offering counseling, we regularly check in with students who may be experiencing difficulties. Whether these challenges are related to academic pressures, friendships, family matters, or personal growth, we make sure students feel supported and are given the opportunity to talk about any concerns they may have.
The guidance team also assists our 5th graders with the middle school application process and our 8th graders with the high school application process. We guide students and families through the application steps, help with researching schools, and provide support so that our students feel confident and prepared for the next chapter in their academic journey.
We encourage you to reach out to our guidance team if your child is experiencing any difficulties, either at school or at home. Whether it’s concerns about social relationships, academic performance, or emotional well-being, we are here to partner with you to support your child’s success.
Please feel free to contact the guidance office with any questions, concerns, or if you would like to discuss how we can better support your child. We are here to help and look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure
your child’s success and well-being while they are here at PS/MS 146.
Thank you.
